Meet the Founder

From an early age, I noticed how conversations around mental health were often missing — not just in families, but in schools, communities, and workplaces. Emotional struggles were minimized, and the connection between mental and physical health was rarely acknowledged, despite how deeply they impact one another. That disconnect sparked a curiosity that’s shaped my path ever since:
Why is something so central to our well-being still treated as secondary? And more importantly, what would it look like to do it differently?

Arzu Vig
I founded The Highland Center for Mental and Behavioral Health to reimagine what therapy can be. Not a clinical checklist. Not a one-size-fits-all solution. But a space for real, collaborative, culturally responsive care — grounded in evidence and individually tailored to every person who enters the therapeutic room.
I am a PEERS® Certified Provider and former National Board for Certified Counselors (NBCC) Minority Fellow, where I spent time researching how to implement culturally appropriate tools and interventions for neurodivergent children, adolescents, and families. My clinical training at Northwestern University emphasized psychodynamic, emotion-focused, and strengths-based approaches.
Before becoming a therapist, I earned an MBA from Duke University and completed fellowships focused on mental health innovation — exploring not just care inside the therapy room, but how we build systems that reflect people’s real lives.I’ve worked in healthcare consulting, supported students in special education, and led a community mental health organization rooted in after-school programming and wraparound family support. These experiences help me meet clients at the intersection of personal, cultural, and systemic complexity.
Outside the therapy room, you can find me recharging with old-school rap and hip hop, working out at OrangeTheory, or checking out hole-in-the-wall restaurants around town.
I’d love to work with you, so feel free to reach out with any questions or book a session with me!
