Meet the Founder

Arzu Vig

"From an early age, I noticed how conversations around mental health were often missing — not just in families, but in schools, communities, and workplaces. Emotional struggles were minimized, and the connection between mental and physical health was rarely acknowledged, despite how deeply they impact one another. That disconnect sparked a curiosity that’s shaped my path ever since:

Why is something so central to our well-being still treated as secondary? And more importantly, what would it look like to do it differently?"

Additional Information

Arzu Vig founded The Highland Center for Mental and Behavioral Health to reshape the therapy experience. Instead of a clinical checklist or a one-size-fits-all approach, she envisioned a space for genuine, collaborative, and culturally responsive care—rooted in evidence and tailored to each individual who walks into the therapy room.

Arzu is a PEERS® Certified Provider and former National Board for Certified Counselors (NBCC) Minority Fellow, where she spent time researching how to implement culturally appropriate tools and interventions for neurodivergent children, adolescents, and families. Her clinical training at Northwestern University emphasized psychodynamic, emotion-focused, and strengths-based approaches.

Before becoming a therapist, she earned an MBA from Duke University and completed fellowships focused on mental health innovation — exploring not just care inside the therapy room, but how systems can be built to reflect people’s real lives and unique needs. She has worked in healthcare consulting, supported students in special education, and led a community mental health organization rooted in after-school programming and wraparound family support.

Outside the therapy room, you can find her recharging with old-school rap and hip hop, working out at OrangeTheory, or checking out hole-in-the-wall restaurants around town.

If you are interested in working with Arzu, feel free to reach out to the Client Care team at info@thehighlandhealthcenter.org with any questions you may have or book a session with her directly!
