03
How long should I be in therapy?
The length of therapy depends on your goals, needs, and what feels helpful to you. Some people come for a few focused sessions, while others choose longer-term support. We’ll check in regularly to make sure therapy is working for you and adjust the pace as needed — there’s no one-size-fits-all timeline.
04
What is your late arrival, cancellation, and no-show policy?
We understand that life happens, and sometimes appointments need to be rescheduled. To respect both your time and the therapist’s availability, we have the following policies in place: -Sessions have a 15-minute grace period for late arrivals, but will still conclude at the original scheduled end time. Failure to arrive within the first 15 minutes is considered a no-show and will incur the full session fee. -Cancellations or rescheduling must be made at least 24 hours in advance of your scheduled session. -Late cancellations (less than 24 hours' notice) will incur a $50 fee, and no-shows will incur the full session fee. We offer a one-time courtesy waiver for your first late cancellation — no questions asked. Please note that this waiver does not include courtesy for no-shows. Fees for cancellations and no-shows will be charged to the card on file. This policy allows us to offer that time to others who may be waiting for an appointment. Exceptions may be made in cases of emergency, at the therapist’s discretion. We appreciate your understanding and commitment to the therapeutic process.

05
Does this practice take insurance?
The Highland Center for Mental and Behavioral Health is out of network, which means that we do not directly take insurance. If your insurance plan has “out-of-network benefits,” you may be eligible for partial or full reimbursement. Upon your request, we can provide a superbill for you to submit to your insurance for reimbursement.
06
What are the benefits of working with an Out-of-Network Provider?
Choosing an out-of-network provider allows for greater flexibility, autonomy, and personalization in your care. Some of the key benefits include: -More choice in finding a therapist who aligns with your values, goals, and identity — not just who’s in-network. -Greater confidentiality, since your information isn’t automatically shared with insurance companies. -Tailored treatment without the limitations of session quotas, diagnosis requirements, or pre-approvals. -A more collaborative, individualized experience focused on your long-term growth — not insurance timelines. If you have out-of-network benefits, you may be eligible for partial reimbursement, and we can provide the documentation (superbill) to support that process.

07
What do I do if I am in a crisis or emergency?
If you are experiencing a crisis or emergency, please do not wait for a scheduled session. Call 911, go to your nearest emergency room, or contact a 24/7 crisis line such as the Suicide & Crisis Lifeline at 988. Our practice does not provide emergency or crisis intervention services.
08
Are there in-person therapy sessions available?
The Highland Center for Mental and Behavioral Health is currently offering virtual sessions, but will be opening an office within minutes of the Highland Park and Uptown neighborhoods of Dallas in early 2026. If you are interested in in-person sessions, please kindly email info@thehighlandhealthcenter.org for the Client Care team to reach out to you once a date has been finalized.

09
How do virtual sessions work?
Upon completing the consultation and intake process, you will receive instructions via email on how to utilize the HIPAA-compliant video teletherapy platform, Simple Practice.
10
What if I am not in Texas but am interested in therapy services with this practice?
